What Is a Pickup Code and How Does It Work
Explaining the 6-digit pickup code used by web file transfer tools: how it is generated, used, and why it expires.
A temporary key to your file
After you upload, the service generates a 6-digit pickup code. Anyone who enters that code on the site can see and download the file — it is a temporary key, not a password.
Designed to be readable
Ambiguous characters (0/O, 1/I/L) are removed from the code alphabet, and input is auto-converted to uppercase, so dictating or typing a code rarely fails.
Why it expires
The code and file share one lifetime (1h, 24h, or 7d, chosen at upload). Expiry protects privacy and keeps storage lean — after it passes, the file is deleted and the code stops working.
